Macheist: Textmate
20. Dezember, 2006

This is a post to find out why everybody is raving about TextMate’s blogging functionality.

So let’s try and add a screengrab as suggested in the screencast. And dang it doesn’t work, maybe because I don’t use the cutting edge version? I tried to download it and it didn’t work either because the file was corrupted…
Hurray, that’s it apparently! Nice editor, but I’m not sure if I want to fork out the money as it’s mainly targeted at programmers. I’m only good for the occasional editing of scripts and some html.

You don’t have to download anything to run „cutting edge“, just set it up in the TM preferences and it „Check now“. You can install latest version of the Bundles with the GetBundle bundle[1].

If you take some time to „get“ how TM works, you won’t regret it. Not only for coding, but for everyday writing as well.
e.g:
Go in the „Bundles“ menu, select „Install Edit in TextMate“ in the TextMate bundle and now you can edit any cocoa text filed in TM. (it’s a the bottom of the Edit menu in those app, e..g.: Safari, Mail, etc.)
Thanks for telling me about the GetBundle bundle. very useful!
Does fetch post works for you in textmate. I have lots of problems with it when I try to get wordpress.com posts.
When I tried to fetch posts, it was possible with the blog hosted on my site. It didn’t work with this blog which is hosted at wordpress.com. But it was possible to post using the blogging bundle. Strange!
Yeah, I guess it has something to do with wordpress.com. I will contact them after the weekend and ask about that.
